Dr. T.S. Wilkinson Memorial School and Hostel was started in 2015 by Nav-Jeevan Sanstha. It was named after a prominent academician of Nagpur who was the principal of Hislop College.
Situated on the outskirts of Nagpur it’s a small boutique school, opened with the intention to give residents of this semi-rural area an opportunity to get a first-class education. The school has classes from Nursery to class 10 and then Junior College – all staffed by excellent teachers. Our school building boasts of spacious classrooms with excellent ventilation and all modern devices to ensure an interactive experience for our young wards. Modern teaching methods and e learning is widely utilized as part of the daily schedule.
We have all the facilities which parents want their children to enjoy – a modern updated Computer Laboratory run by a competent computer teacher who is able to impart a practical education. Our library is vast. We have thousands of child appropriate books manned by an experienced librarian. Students have regular library periods and are encouraged to develop a habit of reading.
Ours is a secular institution and all religions are respected. In fact, we celebrate the holidays of all religions as we emphasize on religious tolerance amongst our student body. Our children enjoy competitions in rakhi making and handmade greeting cards. Children’s Day and Teacher’s Day is celebrated with great aplomb and we regularly have a Bal Mela which invites even our neighbors to join in the festivities. An annual Sports Day tests the children’s sporting abilities on the sports field. We even host an Annual Concert where our budding thespians can showcase their talents before their families and friends.
Our sports facilities too are generous. Besides basketball, volleyball and throwball courts our school also offers a well-equipped gym and table tennis facilities. We have a qualified full-time sports teacher. Children are trained to play football, wrestling and kabaddi on a regular basis. In fact, our school has won quite a few awards in these fields against other larger schools.
Since many of our children come from towns and villages around Nagpur, we also have hostel facilities. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. We even have children from far-away places like UP and MP who are in our hostel. Obviously, there is a great need for, but dearth of, for schools with boarding facilities like ours.
Our hostellers enjoy nutritionally balanced three meals a day with an additional snack after school hours. Visitors in fact remark on the high quality of our meals. We have regular tutors who oversee children’s homework. They also have supervised games in their free time and classes in music, art and craft.
Our head warden has a Master’s degree in Social Work. We also have in residence a qualified nurse to look after the children’s medical needs.
The academic results in our school are excellent year after year. Our teachers work hard to ensure this. Till date our results in board exams have been 100%.
Our main objective for the children who pass out of our gates is that they should become respectful, responsible and productive members of society in this great country of ours.
